about

The first two polkas I got from Billy Clifford who learned them from an accordion player Matt Hayes. Upperchurch is a small village in Co. Tipperary and these polkas were played as pat of sets in the area. They can be found on the recording “Flute Solos and Band Music from Kerry and Tipperary.  Breathnach (CRÉ IV), No. 85 (appears as untitled polka). Mallinson (100 Polkas), 1997; No. 30, pg. 12. Globestyle Irish CDORBD 085, The Billy Clifford Trio – “The Rushy Mountain” (1994. A reissue CD of Topic recordings from Sliabh Luachra musicians).
